GOOGLE SELF DRIVING CAR INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT

Google self-driving car had its first accident on July 1st when another vehicle hit the Lexus RX450h prototype which has special sensors and software when it stopped at a traffic light near the Google headquarters in Mountain View, California. Some Google employees sustained minor injuries but were all released from the hospital not long after.

Google’s head of ‘Autonomous Vehicle program’ Chris Urmson in a statement wrote “Our self-driving cars are being hit surprisingly often by other drivers who are distracted and not paying attention to the road…We’ll take all this as a signal that we’re starting to compare favourably with human drivers”.
